  Officials with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Friday defended Chairman Gregory Jaczko's directive issued to agency scientists to abandon their review of the proposed Yucca Mountain nuclear-waste repository in Nevada. The directive is "consistent with budget and commission policy" and is not being questioned by commissioners, said spokeswoman Elizabeth Hayden.
