NEI: NRC task force report shows "no imminent threat" to U.S. plants

A report issued by a Nuclear Regulatory Commission task force made 34 recommendations for improving safety and disaster preparedness regulations for the U.S. nuclear industry as part of an examination of the Fukushima Daiichi incident. "I think the principal conclusion was that there's no imminent threat to the current fleet of plants ... that the plants are safe, and that we have defense in depth and multiple layers of protection at each facility," said Tony Pietrangelo, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer of the Nuclear Energy Institute.
