Answering Questions About Fukushima: Reactor 4 Fuel Rods & Worldwide Mass Extinction?

An excellent place to find some answers is Reddit’s /r/AskScience, a forum in which questions about scientific issues are answered in a serious manner, “free of layman speculation.” Included among its regular users are several people with professional expertise on nuclear reactors and radiation.
In recent weeks, several threads have covered scare stories being spread by professional anti-nuclear activists:
- What would happen if a severe earthquake hit Fukushima now?
- Would the collapse of the Fukushima reactor really cause a mass extinction event?
- Okay, enough is enough. Can someone please explain to me if the Fukushima reactor’s fuel rods are a real threat to the United States/entire civilization?
- How serious is the Fukishima reactor problem?
- How likely is the Fukushima nuclear crisis able to cause a worldwide environmental catastrophe?
I read your reddit links and found them to be the same BS spewed by Tepco and the Japanese government. Here's the real deal. Reactor 4 is damaged and leaking into the basement. They pump the water out of the basement and back into the cooling pool. IF that fragile system ever loses its cooling pool, from say, another earthquake, then 1,500 rods will go into meltdown releasing the equivalent of 80 nuclear bombs of radiation into the environment at once. They will also release heavier elements such as plutonium 239 in amounts that have the capacity to kill all life on the planet by pollution of the food chain for the next 48,200 years. This is not ambient exposure but is INTERNAL exposure once consumed or breathed in. IF this event happens the place will become so hot that no human could work there to stop the incident. Even flying over in a helicopter would deliver a lethal dose in seconds due to the gamma radiation release. Scientists have already stated there is a 75% of another earthquake occuring within the next 4 years in that area. It could happen any day. Japan is doing NOTHING but twiddling their thumbs because their government and TEPCO do not see any profit in the deal. They are willing to bet your future and the entire world's future... all for money and pride.
