CYBERSECURITY: Policy and Looming Regulatory Issues webinar

Cyber Security: Register NowMay 23, 2012
Time 11:00a-12:30p

The Cybersecurity, Policy and Looming Regulatory Issues webinar is an insider’s look into how the Defense Department, Congress and industry will affect and be affected by potential changes in cybersecurity policy, when analysts are calling cyber the next front in warfare.

Congress is currently debating several different cyber security packages that run the gamut on privacy issues: One, supported by large defense contractors, emphasizes sharing between the federal government and private industry but has been assailed by the White House and privacy advocates as bordering on civilian spying. Another is lighter on regulation and emphasizes civilian oversight by the Department of Homeland Security but doesn’t have the support of Congressional leadership to make it to the House floor.

This webinar will explore potential ramifications from proposed cybersecurity legislation and how it could affect businesses large and small.

Topics of discussion include:
  • How will looming cyber security policy issues affect industry? What are industry’s concerns with the two basic legislative proposals? What is at stake for industry? Should sharing be mandated and controlled?
  • Can the federal government and the private sector share critical cyber threat data without unnecessary regulation?
  • How can industry and DoD best share information?
  • What are some best practices both government and industry can learn from each other to shore up their networks?
  • How can the federal government and private industry share information without excessively infringing on individuals’ privacy rights?
  • What can the federal government best outsource to industry for cyber and what should it do itself?
