Former Japan PM faults government, experts for Fukushima missteps
The
Japanese government is to blame for mishandling the crisis at the
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, former Japanese Prime Minister Naoto
Kan said. But experts from Tokyo Electric Power and the country's
nuclear regulators also contributed to the missteps, Kan said. "Under
Japanese law, experts at TEPCO, the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency
and the Nuclear Safety Commission are supposed to be responsible for
making a correct assessment of the conditions of the reactors," Kan
said, adding that he listened to their advice without skepticism. The Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones Newswires
