Official says Japan needs adequate safety rules for reactor restarts
The
Japanese government should establish sufficient safety rules for
restarting the country's reactors before it decides whether to allow
Kansai Electric Power's Ohi nuclear plant to resume operations, said
Kyoto Gov. Keiji Yamada. "It's a mistake to consider restarting nuclear
plants when the safety system is not working," Yamada said. "The
government has only put in place standards of decision-making (on
whether to restart); they have not yet set standards of safety." The Wall Street Journal
