San Onofre Repair Cost Estimated at Upward of $65 Million

While reporting first-quarter earnings, Edison International indicated repairs at California’s San Onofre nuclear plant are expected to cost between $55 million and $65 million.

The estimate addresses prematurely thinning tubes within steam generators that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries delivered in 2009 and 2011. In a call with analysts, executives said Edison will try to recoup costs from its warrantee with MHI.
