AREVA Recruiting U.S. Veterans

Brandon Greer (left) listens to one of the hundreds of participants who attended the SACC and spoke with AREVA representatives about working in the energy sector. Brandon was a Nuclear Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy before joining AREVA.
AREVA’s HR team for North America recently launched an initiative to recruit U.S. military veterans to help meet specific needs while bringing in strong leadership and project management skills. Military veterans tend to have a proven work ethic and great training. They also possess the leadership competencies we need to drive our business strategy and a mindset focused on safety and continuous improvement. We attended the Service Academy Career Conference Friday, May 29, in Washington, DC and met a lot of accomplished and experienced veterans who have honorably served our country and are ready for new challenges.

There was a lot of interest in renewable energies such as wind and solar, in addition to our work in nuclear energy. Regardless of the technology, the academy grads saw the energy sector as one in which they can continue being of service to their country as we strive to meet our future needs for safe, reliable energy.
For those of us from AREVA, it was an honor to meet so many men and women who have served our country in very tangible ways. We look forward to meeting many more veterans of our military at upcoming events including the Charlotte Veteran Job Fair on Thursday, June 7, in Charlotte, NC.
