- Plant Vogtle's expansion is of worldwide interest, French official says
The construction of two new reactors at Southern Co.'s Plant Vogtle in Georgia will be closely monitored around the world, said Bernard Bigot, chairman of France's Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February approved the combined construction and operating license for the units, which are schedule to come online in 2016 and 2017. "It is a great concern, everywhere, of people investing in nuclear," he said, adding that he is confident the project will be successful. The Augusta Chronicle (Ga.) (6/18)
