Rep. Markey seeks independent probe of NRC's safety culture
Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., is calling for an independent investigation of the safety culture at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission after learning of alleged management concerns of some of the agency's staff. Markey said workers told him that the NRC failed to address safety issues at DTE Energy's Fermi nuclear plant in Michigan and at the Omaha Public Power District's Fort Calhoun plant in Nebraska.
