Transformer travels 7,200 miles to Turkey Point nuclear plant
A 592,000-pound Siemens Energy transformer arrived at Florida Power & Light's Turkey Point nuclear plant after making the trip by train, cargo ship and barge from Europe. The transformer was built in Austria and made a 10-week, 7,200-mile trip to the facility. It's part of a $1 billion upgrade project to make Turkey Point more efficient and increase its electrical output. The Miami Herald
