Thorium power, how is it going in the US?
A thorium reactor doesn't fission thorium. It "builds" uranium (which it fissions very similar to a uranium thermal reactor) from Thorium as needed in real time.

  1. The Thorium reactor is a bit like a candle. The candle wax is vaporized on the wick and ten burns with a controlled flame. It produces water that when not removed via evaporation would extinguish the fire. The amount of uranium used is a bit like a pinch of salt in a pumpkin-sup, trying to get it out is just not a good idea. There are just better ways of getting salt. Unlike in an old style uranium reactor, the Thorium reactor turns itself off if something is not right.
