Israeli Claim of Iranian ICBM Exploits Biased US Intel

Israeli Claim of Iranian ICBM Exploits Biased US Intel

by Gareth Porter, October 12, 2013

http://original.antiwar.com/porter/2013/10/11/israeli-claim-of-iranian-icbm-exploits-biased-us-intel/

In an effort to provoke any possible opposition in U.S. political circles to a nuclear deal with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has returned to exploiting an old claim that Iran is building intercontinental ballistic missiles that could hit the United States.

The Netanyahu claim takes advantage of the extreme position that has been taken on the issue by Pentagon and Air Force intelligence organizations but goes even further.

In an Oct. 1 interview with Bob Schieffer of CBS News, Netanyahu said Iranians are “building ICBMs to reach…the American mainland within a few years”. And in an interview with Charlie Rose a week later, he said the Iranians “are developing ICBMs – not for us, but for you.”

Netanyahu added, “The American intelligence agency knows as well as we do that Iran is developing ICBMs.”

TRISO Fuel News

TRISO Fuel News

The High Temperature Gas Reactor (HTGR) is designed to use an all ceramic fuel form which supports the ‘inherent safety’ of HTGR.  This fuel form is call TRISO, and production of this fuel in the US and in Germany in the 1980s resulted in excellent fuel, but not as good as HTGRs demand.  The degree of manufacturing flaws in the TRISO fuel have to be exceptionally low and the fuel has to perform under all normal and abnormal operations without significant damage to the fuel.

Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority Reports on Leakage and Sea Water Radioactivity (10 October 2013)

On 9 October 2013, the Japanese Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) provided the IAEA an update on current levels of radioactivity in seawater as of 8 October 2013.
The NRA also issued a press release on 9 October 2013 that reports the leakage of contaminated water from a desalination system in use at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, which led to the exposure of six workers.
