Hanford's Leaking Tanks

There is a 2012 report on Hanford storage tank leakage integrity that provides some insights into the technology used to monitor the leakage of material from the 149 single-shell tanks. Hanford's storage tanks are organized in 12 "tank farms," with contents managed as high-level mixed waste. According to report WRPS-51712-FP, 8 out of 23 SSTs in the SX tank farm have been reported to have liner leaks.
Each of the Hanford SX Farm tanks has a nominal I-million-gal storage capacity.
