Schedule Pushed Back for New Reactors at V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant
On Monday, the majority owner of two reactors under construction at the V.C. Summer nuclear plant announced that the units will come online a year later than expected.
Scana Corp. said in a release that the anticipated schedule for substantial completion of unit 2 at the South Carolina plant has been pushed back, from late 2017 or early 2018 into late 2018 or the first half of 2019. As before, unit 3 is scheduled for completion about a year after the first new reactor is finished. The company said the schedule is based on information received in August from the Westinghouse-Chicago Bridge and Iron consortium building the new AP1000 reactors.http://nuclearstreet.com/nuclear_power_industry_news/b/nuclear_power_news/archive/2014/08/12/schedule-pushed-back-for-new-reactors-at-v.c.-summer-nuclear-plant-081202.aspx#.U-uC0Rm5I7B
