Leading representatives from international, U.S. government, industry and academic enterprises will focus on spent fuel management globally at the 33rd Spent Fuel Management Seminar on January 23-25 presented by the Institute for Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) in partnership with the U.S. Nuclear Infrastructure Council.

The forum includes representatives from seven countries ranging from Sweden to China to Japan to Spain as well as perspectives from the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, Idaho National Laboratory, Savannah River National Laboratory and the World Nuclear Transport Institute as well as key global industry experts.

DOE Associate Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy Raymond Furstenau will sound a keynote on U.S. Nuclear Energy and Its Future with special addresses slated on the status of spent fuel management globally and international transportation of spent fuel.  Featured panels included the political landscape and decommissioning initiatives.
Topical focuses include spent fuel transport research and development; spent fuel technology and projects; transportation and aging management; used fuel campaigns; and private sector initiatives.
