Official: Vietnam will expand plan to construct nuclear power plants
Vietnam is stepping up efforts to build nuclear power facilities within the next two decades as it seeks to decrease its dependence on petroleum, said Ta Van Huong, director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Energy Institute. The country originally intended to build two plants with a total capacity of 8,000 megawatts by the early 2020s, but Vietnam is now looking into developing more facilities through 2030.
