Spokeswoman: Feds will unveil panel to study nuclear-waste policy
The Energy Department is set to introduce a blue-ribbon commission that will look into the management of civilian nuclear waste, spokeswoman Stephanie Mueller said. This comes months after Energy Secretary Steven Chu stated that he would create a committee to study options for nuclear-waste policy. The agency offered no explanation for the delay, but industry experts said one problem could be the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which oversees how such panels are nominated.
