Key House Democrats call for restoration of funds for Yucca Mountain
The Obama administration's withdrawal of funding for the Yucca Mountain nuclear-waste repository in Nevada violates the Nuclear Waste Policy Act and could cost billions of dollars in liability payments, according to a number of key House Democrats. The chairman of the House Budget panel, Rep. John Spratt, D-N.C., the House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn, D.-S.C., and three other lawmakers asked the Department of Energy to restore funds for the project. The Wall Street Journal
