GAO urged to review permit process for nuclear plants
Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., is calling on the Government Accountability Office to review the policies and procedures in the permitting process for nuclear projects. In a letter to the acting comptroller general, Markey wrote that he wants the GAO to examine whether the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has adequately weighed the safety and financial aspects of nuclear power plants.
