FirstEnergy wants room for nuke waste By Kim Leonard, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW

FirstEnergy seeks to expand waste-storage space at Pa. plant
FirstEnergy wants to ramp up storage capacity for used fuel rods at its Beaver Valley nuclear plant in Pennsylvania. "It doesn't look like Yucca Mountain is going to open, ever," said Todd Schneider, a spokesman for the company. The Department of Energy has not met its disposal obligation, "so the plants have to safely store it on-site," he added.
