US DOE science advisor urges quick action on spent nuclear fuel

Official: U.S. needs to accelerate plans for nuclear waste
It is imperative that the U.S. move fast with its nuclear-waste-management plans, said Victor Reis, a senior adviser in the Department of Energy's Office of Science. Speaking before the government's blue ribbon panel on nuclear waste, Reis said global warming is spurring the need for swift response.
