AFL-CIO head urges Constellation to not force EDF to buy nonnuclear plants

AFL-CIO asks Constellation to move forward on Calvert Cliffs 3
The AFL-CIO asked Constellation Energy Group to reconsider its decision to "walk away from its investment" in the proposed expansion of Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Maryland, said Richard L. Trumka, the labor group's president. In a letter to Constellation Chairman and CEO Mayo Shattuck, Trumka also urged the utility not to exercise a put option to divest its non-nuclear assets to Electricite de France. Implementing the option "will undermine the long-term value of Constellation," he said. The Sun (Baltimore)
