U.S. nuclear firms cement their place in global supply chain
South Carolina is emerging as a key player in the global nuclear supply chain, thanks to an ongoing effort to foster ties to the Chinese nuclear sector. The latest success: Westinghouse Electric's facility in Columbia, S.C., has completed four fuel assemblies for use at the Sanmen Unit 1 plant in China's Zhejiang Province. "Completion of this milestone is a significant achievement for Westinghouse," said Joe Belechak, senior vice president of Westinghouse's nuclear-fuel division.
