About 80 percent of the new Shaw positions will be engineering jobs, with average pay of about $95,000 per year, the company said. Shaw announced a partnership with Toshiba Corporation this week that makes Shaw the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for most of the company's new nuclear plants.
The 225 new Charlotte employees will be working on plants built by Toshiba, and hiring is set to begin as early as this week, Shaw said.
