Bill allows new power plants to be built in NY

 

"The new legislation could result in the shutdown of the aging Indian Point nuclear power plant in Westchester County, a goal of Cuomo's and several other lawmakers, who cite adverse environmental impacts on Hudson River aquatic life and the risk of an accident in the densely populated suburb 33 miles north of New York City. The plant can't be shuttered without other power generation to replace it."
