New Blog Post Featuring Analysis of NNSA's Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan

New Blog Post Featuring Analysis of NNSA's Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan

Dear Ms. Kearney,
I am writing to let you be one of the first to know about a new blog series jointly produced by FAS and the Union of Concerned Scientists. This four part series will analyze the National Nuclear Security Administration's Stockpile Stewardship and Management Plan (sent to Congress for review in April 2011), and future challenges the plan will face in the new budget environment.
The plan details the Obama administration's planned activities and costs regarding the maintance and modernization of U.S. nuclear warheads and production facilties over the next two decades. However, with national security spending facing cuts below FY 2011 levels for the next two years at a minimum, the NNSA must make sigificant changes in the timing and scale of several major projects.
To read about the increased nuclear weapons spending for the FY 2012 Stockpile Stewardship Management Plan and the conflicts from the Budget Control Act of 2011 on the FAS Strategic Security Blog, click here.
Thank you for your continued support of FAS and helping us reduce the role of nuclear weapons in our world.
With Gratitude,

Hans M. Kristensen
