Reader's view: Nuclear power is technology of choice

The conclusion is that nuclear power is the technology of choice on a worldwide basis.  Technology is available and has been undergoing continuous improvement. Natural gas abundance will have a short-term role because of cost and capital. It will be an alternative as coal continues to be de-emphasized. Countries like Germany and Japan that have declared a desire to eliminate nuclear power will have a realization that fossil fuel is not a feasible alternative and that “renewable energy” will not provide a competitive alternative once government subsidies are removed. The choice will be nuclear power.
