Update from American Nuclear Cafe 01/28/12



It was a good week for small modular reactor technology, including the U.S. Department of Energy unveiling a draft Funding Opportunity Announcement for SMRs ( http://www.ne.doe.gov/newsroom/2012PRs/nePR012012.html ).  Meanwhile, the Department of Defense is also shifting to clean energy sources that reduce greenhouse gases.  Can Small Modular Reactor system lifecycle costs compete with existing installation electricity costs?  William J.
