NRC again gives N.Y. nuclear plant top safety rating
Entergy's Indian Point nuclear plant in New York earned its eighth consecutive top safety rating from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission after 2011 inspections. "The NRC determined that overall, Indian Point Units 2 and 3 operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety," Mel Gray, regional head of the NRC's oversight group, wrote in a letter to Entergy. "The rating means you're meeting your responsibilities," said NRC spokesman Neil Sheehan. The Journal News (Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, N.Y.)
