Court is urged to suspend collection of Nuclear Waste Fund fees

Court is urged to suspend collection of Nuclear Waste Fund fees
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit should suspend the Department of Energy's collection of a radioactive-waste fee, as there is no program in place for the construction of a used nuclear fuel repository, said Jay Silberg, a lawyer representing the Nuclear Energy Institute, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and several energy companies. "For now, we shouldn't have to continue to pay $750 million a year," he said. EENews.net (subscription required)
