Susquehanna Checks Unit 2 Turbine Blades for Cracks

Operators shut down Unit 2 at the Susquehanna nuclear plant in Pennsylvania Wednesday to inspect its low-pressure turbine for blade cracking.

In a release, plant owner PPL said the inspection follows the recent discovery of cracks in unit 1 turbine blades that were similar to those repaired in both units last year, although not as extensive.
