Proposed N.M. deconversion facility clears NRC safety study
International Isotopes' proposed uranium deconversion facility in New Mexico won't place the health and safety of its workers and the public at risk, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's final safety evaluation report. "The NRC approval of the [Safety Evaluation Report] is certainly a major milestone in the company’s efforts to license and construct the first-ever 'green' depleted uranium deconversion and fluorine extraction processing facility in the U.S.," said Steve Laflin, the company's president and CEO.
