Groups work to counter anti-industry rhetoric

In the face of anti-nuclear energy rhetoric, the industry combats the spread of myths with such organizations as the Nuclear Energy Institute and the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition. NEI has developed advertising through different forms of media, some at national levels, to get the industry's story told. "It sort of gained attention from supporters and detractors alike, which is fine for us. We just want to have the dialogue about the benefits of nuclear energy going forward, and that is what the campaign is all about," said NEI's senior vice president of communications, Scott Peterson.
