U.S. would benefit from commercialization of SMRs
The design and commercialization of small modular nuclear reactors would be a boon for Missouri and the rest of the U.S., write Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo.; Warner Baxter, president and CEO of Ameren Missouri; and Kate Jackson, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Westinghouse Electric. It would create jobs and make the U.S. more energy independent. "The U.S. must continue to be a leader who invents, produces and exports the greatest products in the world. We must create the technology, the jobs, the educational opportunities and the rewards right here at home," they write. The Rolla Daily News (Mo.)
