Dominion seeks to run Conn. reactor on new fuel

Dominion is seeking Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval to run the Unit 2 reactor of its Millstone nuclear plant in Connecticut with mixed oxide fuel from Areva. Because the new fuel would be hotter, changes would be required in the facility's used fuel pool. The company intends to begin using the new fuel assemblies in 2015, Millstone spokesman Ken Holt said. The Day (New London, Conn.) (free registration) (8/1)
