Commentary - Fukushima’s waste water decontamination system is a success story
- F. Daiichi's "makeshift" waste water decontamination system gets
critical news coverage every time it has problem. But, there has been no
Japanese news stories about the syustem's unquestionable success. Plus,
the waste waters remaining in the plant basements are 20 times less
radioactive than a year ago. For a "makeshift" technology, it's doing a
great job.
Other updates - The Tokyo governement has decided
to eliminate all nukes in Japan by the 2030s, starting a wave of harsh
criticism from just about everyone quoted in the Press.
One environmentalist calls the move "nothing short of insane"...
Replacing nukes with renewables would cost Japan more than $600 billion,
not to mention severe economic penalties for not meeting their target
for greenhouse gas emissions... Tokyo says they will seek to continue
spent fuel recycling at the Rokkasho facility, Aomori Prefecture... A
Fukushima government effort to identify the Prefecture’s radiation
exposures moves forward.
