Remote-Controlled Equipment Removes Wreckage from Around Fukushima Spent Fuel Pool in New TEPCO Video
(Please visit the site to view this video)Released by Tokyo Electric Power Co. Monday, this video shows the removal of debris from around the spent fuel pool of Fukushima Daiichi unit 3. A hydrogen explosion early in the crisis blew off its roof and much of its shield building, leaving a mess of tangled concrete and steel above its exposed spent fuel pool. Using remote controlled heavy equipment, crews have made substantial progress in clearing the debris. (For comparison, see this video taken last November.)
This video was taken Saturday. Toward the end of the footage, a loose steel beam falls into the pool.
