    The Department of Energy is faced with the challenge of the proper disposal of uranium-233, a man-made substitute for natural uranium that is classified as waste and can be used to create a weapon. The material was seen as a suitable fuel for reactors, but ordinary uranium cost less and proved to be much easier to work with. "There's no further need for" uranium-233, said David Huizenga, senior administrator for environmental management at the department.
