Fukushima Updates 1/28

Here are the topic summaries for today's Fukushima commentary and other updates. Please click the link for the full reports.

Commentary – Japan’s Radiation Standards Strangle TEPCO - Tepco says they will eventually run out of room for low-level waste water storage tanks, thus releases are inevitable. Tepco says they will not make the discharge until the waters meet all Japanese radiological standards. Because of Tokyo’s overly-restrictive track record on setting radiological limits, Tepco may as well be waiting for pigs to grow wings.

Fukushima updates - Nuclear Regulatory Authority wants stringent nuclear plant worker background checks similar to the United States... None of the residents of Fukushima Prefecture have been exposed to radiation levels that would cause thyroid gland damage... The NRA says one of the geologic anomalies running under the Tsuruga nuclear station probably qualifies as an active seismic fault... A new lawsuit has been proposed by 500 Fukushima Prefecture residents for mental distress.
