Forty-five years ago, when I began my 40 yearly summer flights into the Canadian North and Alaska, no one was talking about climate change, and although its effects first appear near the poles, another 20 years would pass before the changes became obvious, particularly to the people who live along the Arctic Coast and visitors like me.
