Fukushima Commentary for today –
F. Daiichi returnees are at much lower risk than previously estimated.
The Nuclear Regulation Authority has changed the way exposures will be
calculated using dosimeters carried by each evacuee who returns home. Previous
aircraft based measurements over-estimated doses by at least a factor of three.
The NRA should be widely commended for shifting to actual readings that show
returnees are at much lower risk than had been assumed. However, the
international Press doesn't seem to care.
