What are we chatting about?

The 392 MW Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, in the Mojave Desert northwest of Needles, will be the first large-scale solar thermal project built in California in nearly two decades, and the largest of its kind in the world.

Bechtel is providing engineering, procurement, construction, and startup services for plant owner Solar Partners, a partnership of BrightSource Energy, NRG Energy and Google. The complex will consist of three separate plants using BrightSource Energy’s Luz Power Tower (LPT) technology. Ivanpah is scheduled to come online in 2013.

Who's Chatting?

	Andy Gillespie is the project manager for the ISEGS project. He is a 25-year Bechtel veteran with global project management, project engineering, and construction experience in the renewable power generation, fossil power generation, civil, oil and gas, and mining and metals industries.
	Sharryn Dotson is the editor of Nuclear Power International magazine. Sharryn joined PennWell in June 2009 as the Online Editor for Power Engineering magazine. Sharryn is also co-chair of the Projects of the Year awards. She graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a B.A. in journalism.
