Phased array ultrasonic testing technology was formally applied in Fuqing NPP
On December 4, Fuqing NPP
Units 3, 4 started inspection of the main channel. The owners, related
people from engineering and supervision company witnessed the phased
array ultrasonic testing technology on nuclear engineering austenitic
stainless steel appeared in the first 2U1 welded junction. This
technology has been applied officially in the main line inspection for
the first time.
The technology is jointly researched and developed by CNNC Design Institute and Dalian University of Technology. After a great deal of preparatory work, it passed expert review on Fuqing application promotion carried out at the November 1. The successful application of technology in the 2U1 weld marks that CNNC Design Institute can completed independently main channel ultrasonic inspection, which fills a gap in the detection field.
