Video: New Nuclear Suppliers Part 1
Nuclear power is shifting East, and so too may nuclear
suppliers. Nuclear energy long has been dominated by the West and by
advanced economies, but this is likely to change in the next thirty
years. While Japan’s nuclear industry is still reeling from the
Fukushima accident, China, India, and South Korea have ambitious plans
for nuclear energy at home and abroad. All three countries face
capacity, regulation and financing challenges and all three have
relatively little experience in export control harmonization.
CSIS, with partners in India, South Korea, and China, explored the
contours of responsible nuclear supply with key technical, official, and
industry experts. This is a discussion of our findings, and the
results of our workshops in Delhi, Seoul and Beijing, with a
distinguished panel of experts:
