$8 billion in smart grid stimulus projects is only a fraction of what’s needed to modernize the grid. The approximately $4 billion in Smart Grid Investment Grants that were issued as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was parlayed into nearly $8 billion in grid modernization projects that are still ongoing.
