The Congressional Budget Office: The Cost of Liability for Nuclear Accidents

In a recent discussion of a Breakthrough institute Institute pos titled  Nuclear Is Cheaper Than Solar Thermal a commenter who went by the name Solar Reserve stated:

 . . . nuclear in the US cannot even be insured without the US government stepping in under the Price-Andersen act which provides billions in “no-fault” insurance to nuclear operators that cannot arrange the necessary insurance coverage.

I am am Reposting this 5 year old post because  Solar Reserve and other renewable advocates continue to offer inaccurate information about the Price-Anderson Power Reactor Insurance system.
