NRC to revise foreign ownership restrictions
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be revising its foreign ownership, control or domination guidelines to allow more flexibility for license applications from energy suppliers whose ownership includes foreign corporations. Nuclear Energy Institute Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Ellen Ginsberg said the revision will be a successful move if it can help the NRC avoid "unduly burdensome obligations" in the future. "In all cases, FOCD negation actions should be appropriately tailored to meet the specific facts of the case and the potential safety or security implications," Ginsberg said.
