petitions against continuing to use LNT and ALARA for rule-making.

Hello to all

I have two posts up at my blog about the LNT petitions. These are petitions against continuing to use LNT and ALARA for rule-making.  I hope my posts will be useful to people.

The first one: please comment to the NRC

The second one: my comment to the NRC

If they are useful, please share them with other groups.

Also, please comment to the NRC.

Best,
Meredith

Yes Vermont Yankee: Two posts in favor of NRC petitions against LNT

Linear No Threshold; Comment to the NRC

The NRC has received three related petitions against continuing to use Linear No Threshold (LNT) and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for rule-making.  The comment period is now open on those petitions.  In this post, Meredith Angwin gives background information and explains why people should comment…or be prepared to evacuate Denver because of its high background radiation.

My Comment to the NRC in favor of abandoning LNT and ALARA for rule making

In this post, Meredith shares her own comment. In biological systems, harm cannot be assumed to be  linear with dose.  One example is selenium, which is essential for life at small doses, and toxic at larger doses. ALARA and LNT are not scientifically accurate, and they divert money from public health measures that actually could increase public health.
