EDF: Operators today can barely cover their variable costs

EDF CEO Jean-Bernard Lévy’s claim that “operators today can barely cover their variable costs” highlights the challenge nuclear utilities are facing in the energy market – they are forced to sell their electricity at a loss.
Utilities therefore must reduce their operating and maintenance costs in an effort to ensure their long term profitability. Driving down utility’s variable costs, the Nuclear Power Plant Optimisation Summit Europe (14-15 April, Brussels) is the industry’s answer to falling power prices and renewable subsidies.
You can find out more about how to join the key players in the nuclear industry right here
Here’s just a few of the key players you’ll hear from at the summit:
  • Exclusive insights and case studies from Jyrki Holappa, Fleet Development, Fortum, Alexander Lindqvist, Fleet Development, Vattenfall and Mark Droesbeke, Head of Corporate Nuclear Department Reliability & OE, Electrabel
  • Updates from the leading European Regulators such as Benoit De Boeck, General Manager, BELV and Marcus Gustavsson, SSM
  • International case studies on outage performance from Harri Varjonen, IAEA
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
John
